Realize a life-long dream of learning to scuba dive! Over the two-day course, you will be properly instructed in diving, learn how to care for equipment, get up close and personal with sea creatures and of course, receive your diving certification!
The certification can begin before you leave home as the first portion is available as an online course. That way, you will be ready to hit the water upon your arrival! Once you arrive to our office, there is a awareness video and paperwork to fill out. This is a good time to ask any questions or address any concerns you may have.
On the first day of your lesson, you will be fitted for equipment and transported to the training site. During the ride, we will review safety instructions including hand signals and practise assembling the equipment. Once we arrive at Exotic Island, enjoy some basic swimming and snorkeling before getting suited up. You will spend a bit of time learning to breathe with the gear on the water surface and underwater before a short dive at the reefs. This is where you will get a chance to see some of the aquatic life.
The boat will then take you to a place known as the Swimming Pool for more advanced exercises. Our diving at this reef will go 12 meters deep. It’s then time for a lunch break on German Island. It’s time for a shore dive! We begin swimming out to about 90 meters from the shore and turn right at a drop-off. We refer to this as the Turtle Dive as that is what you will encounter! Once we return to the boat, a ride back to our office will not be the end of the day for you. You will wash your equipment in fresh water as the salt ocean water can cause damage. We will watch the sunset over a couple of refreshments!
The next morning we will head to the shipwreck at Alburgen. As we are instructing, the deepest we can go at the wreck is 18 meters. Parts of the wreck extend to 26 meters. The ship sank more than 25 years ago while carrying wood which you will see scattered in the sand. Enjoy the corals, lion fish, parrot fish and baby barracuda.
You will be guided to a favorite site, Shark Point. The name is frightening but it refers to the shark fin shape of the rock protruding out of the water. Depending on the weather, the visibility can be 20 to 50 meters. Explore the gullies and enjoy the glorious natural scenery of the waves and fish. We will return to the boat and have our lunch on the beach. One final dive will allow you to explore Middle Rock or Reef One, again depending on the weather.
Once we are back to the office and all the equipment is cleaned, there is a 50 multiple choice question exam to complete before certification cards can be awarded. To celebrate, we will once again watch the sunset and enjoy refreshments!
