Trip Info

The trip has been specially designed by Royal India Holidays as a laid back tour where you visit some of the lesser known places of the Royal state of Rajasthan.

Over the next 16 days, you will have the privilege of exploring Rajasthan’s most important cities, such as Old & New Delhi, engaging in off-road adventures as you explore the desert of Rajasthan and staying in heritage hotels and palaces in Rajasthan which have been converted into hotels, waiting with open arms to welcome guests from across the globe. Experience the real cultures and customs of the colourful state famous for its bravery and history. Enjoy the best hospitality on your memorable journey through the royal state of Rajasthan. During your private tour, you may also get to know some of the descendants of the Royal Families as well as encounter wild animals, like deer and blue bull, while touring the countryside.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival – New Delhi
You will be met at the airport by a Royal India Holidays representative at the Delhi airport. After a traditional Indian welcome, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: Old and New Delhi
After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour which introduces you to the history of Old Delhi, a city founded by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan in 1639.

We will navigate through the winding streets of Chandni Chowk Bazaar on a rickshaw to the Red Fort, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will make our way to Jama Masjid Mosque, built in 1656, followed by a vist to Raj Ghat, the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi.

In the afternoon, we will explore New Delhi, starting with a visit to Humayun’s Tomb, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our next stop is Qutab Minar, the tallest tower in india. On or way to the India Gate, a war memorial built in 1931, we will pay a visit to the Laxminarayan Temple, aslo known as the Birla Temple. We will round out the day’s sightseeing tour by visiting the parliament house and President’s palace.

Day 3: New Delhi – Karauli
We will take the train to Gangapur, followed by a one hour drive to Karauli, famous for its 14th century Old City Palace. It is naturally defended by ravines to the north and east, with a great wall providing further protection. You will have the evening to explore the town at your leisure. You can look forward to really understanding the culture and local village life.

Day 4: Karauli
We will spend the day visiting a local school followed by further exploration of Karauli.

Day 5: Karauli – Bundi
We will make our way to Bundi, a small city in the state of Rajasthan. This city is a bit old fashioned, as the locals follow the typical Rajasthan customs and rituals. As a superb representation of the culture of Rajasthan, this quaint city is quickly becoming a popular tourist destination. You will enjoy exploring the city, which is dotted with orante forts, splendid palaces, and “Baoris.” Should you wish, we can visit the Taragarh Fort, Garh Palace and the Nawal Sagar Lake.

Day 6: Bundy – Bhainsrorgarh
In the morning, we will make our way to Bhainsrorgarh, where we will check into a heritage hotel. Positioned between two rivers, the Chambal and Bamani, Bhainsrorgarh is an impenetrable fort which has been inhabited since the 2nd century BC.  The present fort was built sometime in the 18th century. It is now a luxury heritage hotel. This is the most brilliant location for a romantic getaway.

Day 7: Bhainsrorgarh
This day offers a variety of sightseeing options to choose from. Feel free to opt for a jeep safari through the wildlife sanctuary, visit the Hinglaj Garh Fort, or visit the 8th century Baroli Temples, an architectural wonder!

Regardless of what you decide to do, make sure you go boating on Chambal Lake. If you are lucky, you may see alligators or marsh crocodiles.

Day 8: Bhainsrorgarh – Shahpurabagh
Shahpurabagh provides travelers with an authentic home stay experience. With a relaxed pace of life, this town offers you an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate.

Day 9: Shahpurabagh
Discover the rural life of the surrounding areas, and fish or boat if you choose. Walk through the beautiful gardens and relax by the glistening lakes!

Day 10: Shahpurabagh – Bijaipur
We will drive to Bijaipur, a heritage getaway in the heart of Aravalli. We will stay at the heritage hotel Castle Bijaipur, a rustic 16th century palace. The castle is still home to the ruling family! Spend a day exploring the town and experiencing traditional Rajput hospitality.

Day 11: Bijaipur – Jojawar
We will drive to Jojawar, a somewhat large village, which is the centre of trading, with people coming from nearby dhanis. Jojowar has the biggest Rabari settlemets. This area is home to a camel population of roughly four to six thousand camels.

Day 12:
Jojawar
Explore the colourful markets and the fields where the camels graze. If you prefer, we can visit the dhanis.

Day 13: Jojawar – Jodhpur
Today is a day spent traveling to Jodhpur

Day 14: Jodhpur – Bishnoi Villages – Jodhpur
After breakfast, we will go on a “Day Drive Desert Experience,” visiting the countryside. This 4WD jeep drive will take you through the desert, to a dhani. We will visit a local family from the Bishnoi and Pittal community. We will be welcomed by the village chief. We will explore the village, learning about their culture and way of life. After this truly unforgettable experience, we will return to Jodhpur.

Day 15: Jodhpur
After breakfast, we will spend the day sightseeing. We will visit heritage sites such as Mehrangarh Fort, which spreads over 5 kilometres, Jaswant Thada, and Mandore Gardens.

Day 16: Jodhpur – New Delhi
After breakfast, we will transfer you to the Jodhpur airport for your flight to New Delhi.
