Basilica of Our Lady of Peace is the largest Basilica in the world, the basilica was constructed between 1985 and 1989 and it was consecrated on 10 September 1990 by Pope John Paul II, It has an area of 30,000 square metres and is 158 metres high, It can accommodate 18,000 worshippers inside that is 7,000 sitting 11,000 standing It is located at Yamoussoukro, the administrative capital of Ivory Coast.
In addition, there are other things to see such as the Crocodile lake not far from the Basilica the other one is the Grand Mosque that is very near the basilica, it shows the religious tolerance in Ivory Coast. Foundation of peace is another important site to visit at Yamoussoukro, it is a center that played important roles during the civil wars in Liberia, Siera Leone, Ivory Coast and the war between Burkina Fasso and Mali, it was at the Peace Foundation that all the peace negotiations were held.
On the road to Yamoussoukro, there are villages on the road to be explored too.
