This tour is ideal for the traveler that is looking to experience a combination of a cultural and nature experiences. Join us for a 5 day exploration of Sri Lanka, where you will visit waterfalls, climb the Fortress of Sigiriya, visit fishing villages, and explore the amazing temples of Sri Lanka.

Day 1: After being met by your representative at the Colombo Airport, you will be driven to the fishing village in Negombo, the center of the island’s fishing community. We will then proceed to the Pinnawela elephant orphanage, which is home to 70 orphaned and abandoned elephants. We will accompany the elephants to a river to watch them take their daily baths. We will then proceed to Sigiriya for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Enjoy a warm breakfast and then climb the Rock Fortress of Sigiriya, built in the 5th centure A.D. See the Water Garden, Bolder Garden, Mirror Wall, Mural Paintings, Royal Swimming Pool, and Lion’s Paws. After completing the climb, proceed to Polonnaruwa, which was the capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th to 13th century, where we will take time to explore the ruins and monuments. We will then go to an the Archaeological Museum, and end the day by returning to Sigiriya.

Day 3: This day is a day spent exploring the culture and history of Sri Lanka by visiting temples. We will travel to the Dambulla Cave Temple, followed by visiting the Nalande Gedige Temple as well as the Aluvihare Cave Temple. the location where Buddhism was brought into book form in the 1st century, B.C. We will spend our evening visiting the Temple of Tooth Ralic and enjoying a traditional Kandian dance performance. We will stay overnight in Kandy.

Day 4: Our day will begin with a sightseeing and cultural tour of the city of Kandy, the last capital of the Sri Lankan Kings. Highlights include the market, the bazaar, and the botanical gardens in Peradeniya. The garden contains nearly 10000 species of plants! We will then proceed to Nuwara Eliya, also known as “Little England.” We will make a step ascent to the tea factory, and see how tea is made. The tea is hands down the best tea you will ever taste! We will stay in Nuwara Eliya overnight.

Day 5: The last day is a perfect mix between culture, nature, and adventure. We will visit St. Clair’s Waterfall, and white water raft in Kithulgala. We will then go on an evening city tour of Colombo, where we will visit the old parliament building, explore the residential areas, and visit the┬áBandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. The tour ends with a transfer to the airport. If you wish, you can end the tour in Colombo, and spend additional time on your own enjoying the city.
