While traveling, would you enjoy a homecooked meal? How about one that you help to prepare and cook? Pu Sue and Lesly invite you to have that exact experience. They open their home to travelers from all over the world, to teach about their culture through food. Their specialty is Burmese and Shan recipes, but also will accommodate vegetarian and vegan palates. The duration of the class depends on types of dishes you wish to prepare.
We will meet early in the morning to discuss the meal plan, according to your liking and/or dietary needs. Together, we will visit the local market to choose the ingredients needed. You will learn about how different spices will enhance the flavors of the various plants, fish and vegetables we use. Our culture cuisine consists of fish, salads and starches such as rice, potatoes and noodles. We also use chicken, beef and pork.
Once we have all of the ingredients, it is time to return to our home and start cooking! This is a fun experience, as we all share stories about our cultures and traditions. We will walk you through each task and explain the importance of each ingredient. Cooking will be done over charcoal, on a traditional stove.
