Join us on the ultimate sightseeing tour of Myanmar! This 10 day/ 9 night tour will cover the areas of Mandalay, Monya, Bagan, Indein, Dala, and Yangon. We will take you to a variety of temples, pagodas, monasteries, and local markets. You will learn of the rich history of Myanmar, visit heritage sites, and embrace the amazing culture and people!
Day 1:
Upon your arrival at Mandalay International Airport, we will drive you to your hotel. After dropping off your bags, we will take a one hour boat ride to Mingun. Mingun is a small village, situated on the bank of Ayeyarwaddy River. We will visit the Pahtodawgyi pagoda – the unfinished pagoda, Mingun bell – the worlds biggest bell, and Myatheindan pagoda. After visiting the heritage sites, we will return to Mandalay by boat, allowing you to view the sunset on the water. We will stay overnight in Mandalay.
Day 2:
We will visit the Shwenandaw Monastery, Kuthodaw pagoda, and Mahamuni pagoda, one of the three important heritage sites in all of Myanmar. Afterwards, we will drive to Amarapura, the ancient capital of Myanmar. In Amarapura, we will visit the Mahagandayone monastery. We will then proceed to Innwa, an artificial island, where we will visit the Bagaya monastery, Menu Ok Kyaung, and ruins of Innwa on a horse cart! In the evening, we will return to Amarapura, where we will enjoy the sunset from U Bein bridge, the longest wooden bridge in the world. We will return to Mandalay for an overnight stay.
Day 3:
We will jump in the car, and drive to Monya, which takes roughly 3 hours. On the way, we will visit Sagaing, famous for its holy Sagaing Hill, the land of 400 monasteries for Buddhist monks and nuns. Upon reaching Monywa, we will visit the Powin cave, which houses 400 000 Buddha images. We will spend the night at Monywa.
Day 4:
We will visit the Monywa local market, where you will be immersed in Myanmar daily life. We will visit the Thanboday temple, Bodhitataung pagoda, and the special forest of Figu trees. The tour will proceed to the reclining Buddha, which is a massive 90 meters long. Even bigger is the standing Buddha, which towers a staggering 134 meters high! We will finish the day by driving to Bagan by car, where we will stay overnight.
Day 5:
The archeological zone in Bagan is one of the most famous areas in all of Myanmar, with its holy land containing over 2000 pagodas, including the Ngakwengadaung pagoda. We will also visit the Nat Hlaung Kyaung temple, the only Hindu temple in Bagan. We will make our way to the Pathothamya temple, a lesser known temple with beautiful wall paintings. We will take a walk through Old Bagan and visit the ruins of Bagan. We will spend the rest of the day visiting a few more notable temples and pagodas. We will make sure we are at Shewsandaw pagoda in the evening, so you can enjoy the sunset from the top of the pagoda. We will spend the night in Bagan.
Day 6:
We will visit the Nyaung Oo local market in the morning, as well as the Shwezigon pagoda. We will visit the Htilominlo temple, Upali ordination hall, and the Lacquerware Workshop. Later in the day, we will fly to Heho, and drive to Nyaung Shwe for an overnight stay in the city or on the lake.
Day 7:
Our day will begin by visiting the most venerable temple on the lake, Phaung Daw Oo pagoda, known for its 5 Buddha images. We will make our way to Ngaphechaung monastery, the wooden monastery built in the 19th century. We will observe the beautiful floating villages and the daily life of the Intha tribe. In the evening, we will visit Shwe Inn Dein Pagodas, which is home to thousands of pagodas within one square kilometer. We will return to Nyaung Shwe or the lake for an overnight stay.
Day 8:
We will fly to Yangon, and visit the Bogyoke market and Dala village. The village is the best place to observe the daily life of people who live in both the rural and urban areas. We will spend the night in Yangon.
Day 9:
Yangon is the most important commercial city in Myanmar. We will spend the day strolling around the Indian quarter, visiting the Bogyoke market, the Sule pagoda, Chaukhtatgyi pagoda, with its 70 meter long reclining Buddha, and Shwedagon Pagoda. We will spend the night in Yangon.
Day 10:
After breakfast, we will transfer you to the Yangon airport, for your departing flight.
