Trip Info

This 8 day tour of Albania will leave you with a new sense of the country’s true beauty.   This history tour will bring you to serveral UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as other important sites which have shaped Albania into the country it is today.

Day 1: Upon your arrival at “Mother Teresa” Airport, in Tirana, you will be greeted by a representative, and brought to your hotel.  The National Historic Museum offers an introduction into the History of Albania.  This will be followed by dinner at a traditional Albanian restaurant.

Day 2: Depart for Vlora, visiting Ardencia, a 13th century Orthodox monastery, followed by Apollonia, situated on the famous Via Egnatia.  Founded in  588 BC, it was once a large, flourishing city.  Your day will end in Vlora, where the Independence Museum is located.  You will then have the afternoon and evening to explore as you please.

Day 3: Depart for Saranda, driving along the Albanian Riviera, with a brief stop at Llogara National Park, before arriving at Dhermi beach.  Next stop is Porto Palmero, where you will be able to see the Ali Pasha Castle, continuing on to Borsh, and finishing the day in the breath taking Saranda.

Day 4: Depart for Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, founded by the Trojans. On the way to  Gjirokastra, we will make a brief stop and see the beautiful Blue Eyed Spring.  Upon reaching Gjirokastra, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known as the “Museum City.”

Day 5: Explore Gjirokastra a little longer, and then depart for Bylis, an important Archeological center in Albania.  From this point, we arrive in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Berat city, also known as “the city of a thousand windows.”

Day 6: Depart for Tirana, tasting wine on the way.  Take part in a wine tour, and enjoy yourself!  Once in Tirana, you will be able to pay a visit to the Statue of Skanderbeg, in Skanderbeg Square.

Day 7: Depart for Kruja, the centre of the legendary Albanian resistance against the Turks, which was lead by our national hero, Skandereg.   Visit the Kruja fortress, take in the superb coastal views, and then continue to Durres.  Finally, return to Tirana

Day 8: Expore Tirana before returning to the airport, filled with memories of Albania!
