Guide

Trip Info

The story of the Great Fire of London in September 1666 and the bombing of London during the Blitz in September 1940.

Two of the largest fires ever to engulf The City were the Fire of London of 1666 and the burning of The City during the Blitz of 1940. After both of these events thousands of homes were destroyed, churches were gutted and Livery Company Halls were lost but after each of these tragedies through the resolve of its people The City rose again like a phoenix from the ashes. Although separated by nearly 300 years these events have many similarities and parallels which are illustrated on this walk.
