For a mountain climbing trip of a lifetime, give Carstensz Pyramid a try! This is also known as Puncak Jaya, one of the Seven Summits. Located on New Guinea just off of Indonesia, it is Australia’s highest peak. The climb from base camp to the summit has various weather and trekking conditions. It can have sand, rocks, water spots, rock slides and snow. The area was closed to tourists and mountaineers from 1995 to 2005. Special permits are now required and we at Manado Adventures can supply you with one. For 10 years, we have been organizing expeditions to Carstensz Pyramid. Recently, we have added a commercial helicopter to the trekking option.
For the climbing expedition, expect 14-17 days for the trip. The first few days are spent on briefing, food preparation, checking gear and flying to a nearby site. The trek to the base camp and then to the summit will be 10 days with a rest period half way. The next two days are returning to Manado Adventures.
If you wish to use a helicopter, the entire trip will last about five to seven days with one rest day included at the summit.
To experience both forms of expedition, expect about 10 days for the entire trip. There are two rest days in this package.
The trek to Carstensz Pyramid summit is an adventure aside from the mountain itself. Climbers must endure trekking through the jungle and tribal territory. The knowledgeable and experienced guides of Manado Adventures will make your trip not only a memorable one but a safe one too!
