Trip Info

Come and join the amazing Richmond Canal Cruise adventure! You will learn lots of Richmond’s fascinating history in this 40-minute narrated tour.

The journey will begin at the Turning Basin located at the junction of 14th and Doc streets on Virginia Street. Your tour guide will greet you with a covered boat that accommodates up to 35 passengers. Richmond’s canal system was first established in 1789 after George Washington lobbied the General Assembly to proceed the construction project. The canal has a significant historical meaning because it connected the harbours of the east to the trade and market opportunities west extending all the way to the Rockies.
