We begin the three-day trekking tour with your guide meeting you at your hotel in Kigali in the early morning. You will travel through Northern Rwanda, known as the country of a thousand hills for its rolling hills, deep valleys and winding roads. Enjoy the scenery and history lesson on your way to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. Enjoy an overnight stay at a lodge in Kisoro.
Today will be a memorable day as we have the gorilla tracking adventure in the national park. After a full breakfast at the lodge, we travel to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. This will be a strenuous hike through the forest as it can last from two to eight hours, depending on the movement of the gorillas. If you feel the need, a porter can be hired to assist you during the trek. Park rangers will guide us as we track the gentle giants in their natural habitat. The thrill of encountering the mammals takes away the hard struggle of searching for them. You will be given one-hour maximum watching the gorillas feeding, playing and young ones swinging on trees. We will return to the lodge for a late lunch and relax for the rest of the afternoon. Enjoy local cuisine for dinner and explore the area meeting local people.
In the morning, we will have a canoe ride on Lake Mutanda to visit different islands, depending on the weather and time availability. Later in the day, we will dive back to Kigali for your departure flight. If time permits, we will also visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Museum in Kigali.
