Trip Info
Explore the spectacular landscape, learn about the culture and have a great deal of fun on this beer tour. The region is blessed with a number of Trappist abbeys and other microbreweries. Your guide is an expert home brewer as well and will be able to give you a detailed explanation on the processes used.
You will begin at the Abbey of Maredsous, founded in 1872 by Benedictine monks. Here, we will visit part of the abbey and the church and relax at the Saint-Joseph Visitors Center for an abbey beer and cheese tasting.
We will then head to Brasserie des Fagnes. This single place has various sites to explore such as a 18-19th century brewery, a modern brewery in activity and a vast tasting room. You will have the possibility to taste some of the beers brewed on the spot and other local products.
Enjoy a guided tour and tasting at Brasserie du Bocq. This family brewery was founded in 1858.
As we continue on our journey, we will have a view of the abbey of Leffe as we pass by. The Brasserie Caracole is our final destination as it this is the last artisanal brewery that brews by means of wood-fired ovens. This unique brewery was first established in 1766 under the name of Brasserie Moussoux. It changed ownership and became Brasserie La Motte in 1941 and was changed to Brasserie Caracole in 1992. Enjoy a guided visit of this brewery and sample four different beers.
