Join Tamara for Bologna’s Best, a tour which helps you discover the city’s rich history and gourmet cuisines. Bologna is not only the home of the world’s oldest university, the 11th-century University of Bologna, but it’s also considered to be Italy’s food capital. Your tour starts at an organic family farm. You will learn about cheese making and experience a step by step introduction on making the famous Parmigiano Reggiano. At the end of this portion of the tour there will be a cheese tasting accompanied by a local Lambrusco wine. Your next stop is at the Acetaia, where the local Modenese owners make the famous ‘Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena’. They will share with you, the secret of making traditional vinegar from wine, as well as, the history of the balsamic vinegar. Your last visit will be at a local Italian restaurant for an amazing meal consisting of pastas, salami and antipasti platters, specialty breads of the region, and wine!
