Trip Info

There is no better way to spend your day on the South coast than to experience the Black River Safari day tour. Your expedition begins moving westward through the hills, passing various small farming and rural villages, while viewing some of the most breathtaking countryside scenery in the area.

After Bluefields you will arrive in the town of Black River to enjoy your boat ride on Jamaica’s largest wetland area РBlack River Safari. Entering Black River town you will see the Georgian architectural elegance of the Great house, overlooking the shoreline of the Caribbean sea. Driving through the town of Black River, you will see the market, fishing village and buildings of different sizes old and new.

Your boat ride begins at the mouth of the Black River and lasts approximately one hour. Over 100 species of birds have been sighted in the Black River area and it is also one of the last habitats of the endangered crocodile. Crocodile sightseeings are frequent, and the flora and fauna of this area are spectacular. On feeding days, you can see Charles Swaby, the resident crocodile expert, hand feed the crocodiles.
