This safari takes you to the best parks and lodges of Tanzania. Starting with the Ngorongoro Crater, a volcanic basin of more than 259 square kilometers with walls rising 609 metres. A natural sanctuary for over 25,000 animals and a conservation area inhabited by the Maasai tribes. Continue to Serengeti, one of the world’s last great wildlife refuges. Finally drive to Lake Manyara renowned among ornithologists for its bird of prey and the famous tree-climbing lions that inhabit the woodland that nestles between the lake and the Rift Valley.
We begin our wildlife tour in Arusha by driving through the Ngorongoro Highlands to your lodge situated on the rim of the crater. The crater covers over 102 square miles of land and is the home of the rare black rhino, prides of lion, elephant, cheetah and great herds of buffalo, antelope and wildebeest. Spend overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.
Today you will descend 2,000 feet to the floor of the crater for a full day crater tour with picnic lunch. Explore the forest areas that are inhabited by monkey and elephant, the lake area, where you may see the flamingos and the open savannah where the lions hunt for food. Enjoy overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.
On day three, after breakfast, we drive to Olduvai Gorge, site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s renowned archaeological discoveries. Their findings include some of the man’s earliest known ancestral remains. We continue to Serengeti National Park in time for lunch. This enormous park supports every variety of animal imaginable, from large predators such as lion, leopard and cheetah to the smaller herbivores they prey on. After an afternoon game drive, we spend the night at Serengeti Serena Lodge.
We will have breakfast at the lodge before enjoying morning and afternoon game drives. More than two million wildebeest, Thompson’s gazelle and zebra gather during the migration, attracting a great deal of attention from their predators such as lion, hyena, cheetah and leopard. We have overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge.
After breakfast, we depart for Lake Manyara to arrive in time for lunch. An afternoon game drive in Lake Manyara National Park will see inhabitants include hippos, monkeys, tree climbing lions, flamingos and other variety of bird life. Enjoy overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge.
On our last day, we return to Arusha for lunch at Impala Hotel.
