Day 01 – Airport/ Colombo – Negombo
You will be met on arrival from your flight from Colombo Airport or picked up from your hotel. We will then leave for Negombo in the afternoon. Negombo is a characteristic fishing town north of Colombo. Set amid lush groves of coconut palms, it breathes the spirit of the sea. Negombo is a gourmet’s paradise with sea food in plenty. Dinner and overnight in Negombo/ Waikkal.
Day 02 – Negombo – Polonnaruwa
In the morning, we will leave Negombo for Sigiriya. In the afternoon, we will go on an excursion to the medieval capital of Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa was the capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th to the 13th century AD. This ancient city is one of the most beautiful centers of this island’s cultural heritage. After spending the day sightseeing and exploring the historic city, we will spend overnight at Dambulla.
Day 03 – Sigiriya
Today, we will climb the famed Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The construction, irrigation & artistry of this fortress is truly a masterpiece. It was a resort of pleasure, a citadel of beauty & a fortress of strength. Sigiriya has been made famous for the frescoes on its rock wall. After spending the day exploring the amazing fortress, we will return to Sigiriya, where we will stay overnight.
Day 04 – Sigiriya – Kandy
Leave for Kandy, the capital of the Sri Lankan kings, which fell to the British in 1815. This hill capital is situated in a valley 1600 feet above sea level, surrounded by mountains & virtually encircled by the scenic Mahaweli river; the longest in Sri Lanka. Kandy, one of the most beautiful cities in Sri Lanka, is famous for it’s Temple of the Tooth, one of the most venerated Buddhist temples in the world. After the day of sightseeing,we will spend the night in Kandy.
Day 05 – Kandy – Nuwara Eliya
Today, we will leave for the mountains. Nuwara Eliya is located in the center of the hill country, and is also known as the “Hill station”. This ruggedly picturesque location almost 6200 feet in elevation. The soft, cool climate was favored by the British, who made it their hill resort during their rule in Sri Lanka, (then called Ceylon). We will spend the night inNuwara Eliya.
Day 06 – Nuwara Eliya – Colombo
On your last sightseeing day, we will have breakfast, and then leave for Colombo. In the afternoon, enjoy some time at your leisure – a perfect time for shopping! We will spend overnight in Colombo.
