On your first day you will travel from Srinagar to Pahalgam, driving through the Valley of Shepherds, Pampore Saffron fields and ruins. The Awantipura ruins are of an 1100-year-old temple of Lord Vishnu built by King Awantiwareman.
Spend your second day in Pahalgam visiting Chandanwari, famous for it’s beautiful scenery, flora and fauna, springs and streams. It is also the gateway to the betab and aru valley.
After your night stay in Pahalgam, journey to Gulmarg, 2730 m above sea level, with it’s delightful ski slopes and the highest 18-hole golf course in the world. Take a short trek to Khilanmarg and enjoy a gondola ride over the snow-covered slopes.
On day four, you’ll be traveling from Gulmarg back to Srinagar by houseboat. Admire the beautiful Dal Lake and enjoy the flower sellers, fruit vendors and handicraft sellers making sales calls at the houseboat. This is a beautiful floating market! You’ll also enjoy the fantastic scenery along your boat ride on romantic Dal Lake.
From Srinagar you’ll make a day trip into Sonmarg. Sonmarg lies in Sindh Valley surrounded by mountains and meadows full of flowers. This is also the base for some interesting treks to the high altitude of Himalayan Lake.
Your last full day in Srinagar will be spent doing some local sightseeing. Visit Mughal Gardens, built by Asif Khan in 1632 A.D. Visit Shalimar Garden Abode of Love, built by Jehangir for his wife Empress Noor Jahan. These beautiful mountain gardens are situated on the bank of Dal Lake. On your way back into the city, visit a carpet weaving factory and Shankracharya Temple.
