This multi activity tour highlights the beauty and wonders of KwaZulu-Natal such as the ragged tooth shark migration and the winter game viewing.
After arriving at Johannesburg airport, you will be taken to Durban and transferred to a comfortable Bed And Breakfast home in Scottburgh on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast. You will receive a briefing about the dive sites and dive techniques required as well as a boat orientation and equipment check. Enjoy local cuisine for dinner and overnight at Scottburgh.
The next day will see you enjoy two dives on the spectacular world-renowned Aliwal Shoal. It is rated as one of the top ten dive sites in the world. From June to November, the Ragged Tooth Sharks gather in large numbers on the shoal during their annual migration. You are guaranteed to see these docile sharks during their dives. After lunch, you may chose to enjoy the beach, play golf, visit a crocodile farm or go shopping at the local market. Have another overnight stay in Scottburgh.
An early start will have us travel to Shelly Beach and do two dives on South Africa’s premier shark dive site, Protea Banks. We may see Raggies, schools of Hammerhead Sharks or some Zambezi Bull Sharks. In the afternoon, we visit the Oribi Nature Reserve to walk a nature trail, try your hand at surfing or just relax on the beach before heading back to Scottburgh for overnight.
On day four, we will head to Hluhluwe Game Reserve, South Africa’s oldest game reserve. Along the way, we can stop at the Natal Sharks Board after which you will be able to spend a few hours at Gateway, South Africa’s largest and most exciting shopping experience. You could also choose to visit Seaworld and enjoy a dolphin educational experience. Once we are settled at the game reserve, we will have a night game drive. Enjoy an overnight stay at the reserve.
An early morning game drive before breakfast offers you a chance of seeing predators hunt for their day’s meal. The rest of the day will be spent enjoying a short escorted hike or relaxing in a hide, waiting to spot some of the more timid animals. An afternoon siesta is a good idea before embarking on the evening game drive. Overnight stay at Hluhluwe.
After breakfast, we transfer to Durban after a leisurely morning game drive through the reserve. We will also visit traditional Zulu cultural villages to experience the ancient African customs that still exist today. Stay overnight in Durban.
On day seven, enjoy a bit of shopping and a short tour of Durban. Visit the Natal Sharks Board, uShaka Marine World, the Indian Market and the Gateway shopping Center before heading off to the harbour to enjoy a farewell seafood lunch. We will then go to Johannesburg for your flight.
