We have designed this desert tour especially for visitors with limited time or budget, and packed it with features that most travelers to Morocco cite as the highlights of their trip. On this condensed tour, you will see a great deal of Morocco’s section of the Sahara Desert in a relatively short time. There is a lot packed into just a few days, a trip you will never forget!
You’ll leave from Marrakesh and experience the High Atlas range, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the dramatic Dades Gorge, stunning sunsets, staggering cliffs, an ancient Jewish village, dunes and desert, broad valleys and authentic Moroccan cuisine. It’s like a grand tour with a little bit of everything packed into a convenient timeframe.
Day One. Rise and shine! Your tour commences at 8:00 a.m. with a pick-up from the Riad Hotel in Marrakesh. Today’s journey includes a trip over the lofty Atlas Mountains to visit the famous Kasbah at Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for being an “eminent example of a Ksar”. Then it’s off to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco” because it has been the location for dozens of films. Next, we head toward the Dades Gorges, driving through the Rose valley and along the Mil-Kasbah road to reach your hotel before sunset. We strive to get you to your hotel in time to enjoy the spectacular view from the top of the canyon as the sun dips beneath the curve of the earth. It’s romantic and dramatic; what a way to end the day!
Day Two. To the desert! We depart Dades Gorge for Todra Gorge, which is located 50km from the Boumalen Dades. The Todra Cliffs are widely known for great climbing, and are frequented by climbers of all skill levels. From there, we continue on to Jerf village, which was once inhabited by the Jewish community and is now occupied by Arabs. After crossing the Ziz Valley, we finally reach the vast, incredible desert, where your camel is ready and waiting to take you on an amazing 90-minute journey. Nothing could be more genuinely Moroccan! You will arrive at our private camp, surrounded by towering sand dunes, to enjoy music and an authentic Moroccan meal cooked by your bluemen. Relax, rest and prepare for your final day of this superb excursion.
Day Three. After viewing a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes, your camel will carry you back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower. Then we set off on our return journey to Marrakesh, travelling through the Agdz Nekob and Tazzarine village (where movie Babel was filmed), and then on to Ouarzazate and Marrakesh via the Tizi-nTichka Pass. We arrive in Marrakesh, our journey’s end, at about 7:00 p.m. having seen and experienced the highlights of marvelous Morocco.
