Trip Info

Challenge yourself with this trekking tour through the eastern region of Nepal. Although it is a remote and unexplored area compared to other trekking regions, it offers an endless variety of places to explore. The people of various ethnic groups such as Rai, Tamang, Sherpa, Limbu, Brahmin and Chhetri call this region home.

Over the 18-day tour, you will see various flora and fauna as you trek through the winding trails of the foothills of the world’s third highest mountain of Kanchenjunga. You will explore the Makalu Barun National Park, Makalu Barun Conservation Area and Kanchenjunga National Park.

The trek will start after a flight to Tumlingtar, a small village located on a plateau. We will follow the trail to Makalu Base Camp used by yak herders along a ridge high above the eastern bank of the Arun River. Continuing to a 4,300-meter plateau on the Thuli Danda, you will see the stunning wall of Chamlang and other major Himalayan peaks.

After several days in the wilderness, we reach the community of Walung village. The village is perched on the steep slopes of the Arun Valley. We will then hike towards Lukla to end our trek.
