Trip Info

The Apuseni Mountains are one among the most interesting tourist destinations from Romania. Karst topography, flora and fauna are some of the reasons why the area was declared a nature reservation. Local people, the so-called moti, are famous for the wood-carved objects for generations. Numerous wild gorges of Galbenei, Ordancutii and Ariesului, sparkling waterfalls of Varciorog, Valul Miresei and Evantai, huge and stunning caves Ponorului Fortresses, Altarului Cave, Live Fire Glacier and Scarisoara Glacier and peaks Bihorul and Piatra Graitoare adorn the Apuseni Mountains with true landscape treasures.

We start from Oradea on this trekking tour and head to Bologa and Chalet Vladeasa, where we stay overnight in tent or chalet, depending on weather conditions. In the morning, we set out for Piatra Tilharului for an overnight stay in a tent. On the third day, we spend seven hours trekking to Stina de Vale for the night.

The fourth day will see a trek to Peak Poeni, The Radesei Fortresses, Padis and Glavoi. The next day, we leave Glavoi for Galbena Valley, Live Fire and return to Glavoi for another night. We will again stay for the next three nights as we tour Padis, Radesei Fortresses, Somesului Cald Valley, Fortresses of Ponor and Lost World.

On the ninth day, we explore the Scarisoara Cave and stay overnight. We will leave to return to Oradea after visiting Girda de Sus.
