Aoraki/Mount Cook is recorded as the largest and highest peak in New Zealand. A day climb of more than 1,500 meters from the Grand Plateau Hut is required to reach the summit at 3754 meters. You must have a high level of fitness for this mountain climbing adventure due to the fact that the peak is 600 meters higher than surrounding ridges. High winds and rapidly changing weather conditions are expected.
This adventure will begin in Grand Plateau and you will fly by chartered ski plane or helicopter flight to get there. On the way to the summit, you will see glaciers and crevasses, and steep ice. The descent back to the Mount Cook village is steep and will be a moderate to long day. If you prefer, you also have an option to take a return flight from Plateau to Mount Cook Village at an additional cost.
