Guide

Trip Info

During this private tour, you will visit temples in the Angkor Thom area. We will start by the South Gate of Angkor Thom where both sides of the south gate bridge have a demon and a god statue holding the King Cobra called Naga Vasuki. We continue to Bayon, one of the most popular temples of Angkor Heritage and explore this temple made of many captivating giant stone faces. Your guide will point out the best angles for photography here and give explanation of the many intricate carvings on the walls of the galleries.

You will keep travelling from the north entrance towards Baphuon, a temple which reopened in 2011. Phimeanakas is hiding in the shaded jungle and offers a decent over-the-treetops view to those who conquer the steep steps to the top. The view from the top will leave you speechless.

The next stop will be at Esplanade of the Royal Palace, more commonly known as the Terrace of the Elephants, an impressive 300-meter long terrace wall adorned with carved elephants and garudas spanning the front of Baphuon.

Finally, you will head towards Preah Palilay, a picturesque sandstone and laterite tower. Rising eight-meters high, the laterite wall guards many treasures inside, protected by a moat still flooded today.
