Explore with me the ancient and beautiful city of Chester! Situated some 20 miles south of Liverpool, close to the border with North Wales, Chester is steeped in the rich history of England. In addition to its unique covered galleries, known as the Rows, and countless other architectural gems, the city possesses the most complete circuit of Roman, Saxon and medieval city walls in Britain.
Walking around the sandstone walls is almost like taking a trip through English history, the walls bear testament to the various invaders and defenders who have shaped English history up to the modern day. The basic street plan inside the walls has changed little from Roman times and each of the ancient and medieval towers has its own story to tell.
The complete guided walk on the walls will take approximately two hours or we can visit some of Chester’s other famous and interesting landmarks such as the Cathedral or museums. The options are available to suit each party.
