Trip Info

This exciting jungle tour follows the Amazon River. This jungle tour begins in Quito, Ecuador. For the next 5 days, we will explore the towns along the Amazon in Ecuador. We will start by visiting¬†Quito’s old town and a relaxing visit to Termas de Papallacta, also known as hot springs. ¬†On our way to Nuevo Rocafuerte, we will take an 8 hour boat trip with the local people, allowing you to really connect with the community on an individual basis. Other highlights of the Ecuador portion of this jungle tour include: visiting the Yasuni National Park, where we will take part in a variety of activities, such as boat ride expeditions, interpretive hikes of the Amazon Rainforest, bird watching tours, and attending traditional food preparation festivals.

We will cross the border between Ecuador and Peru and navigate down the Napo River. Along the way, we will camp at various locations, and stay at the houses of the local Kichwa families. We will go an Amazon River boat trip to the “Three Frontiers:” Santa Rosa, Tabatinga, and Colombia. This boat tour will is by fast boat, which will take approximately 9 hours. We will spend an additional day exploring this area.

We will return on an Amazonian-style cruise to Solimoes. Expect to see some amazing sunrises and sunsets! We will continue to navigate the river to Manaus, where we will spend two nights. While in Manuas, we will go on a city tour of Manaus, visit the markets and the theater. In the morning, we will fly to Sao Luis.

Upon arrival in Sao Luis, we will go on a jeep tour along the beautiful white sand paths. This 1-hour tour will take us to the peaceful beach village, Atins. We will spend an additional day relaxing on the beautiful beach. After enjoying a rejuvenating day and night, we will make our way to the Great Lensois National Park, where we will spend the afternoon hiking. We will make our way to the big dunes in time for sunset, so you can witness the most amazing sunset in South America! We will return to Atins for dinner, where you will you will try Atin’s local shrimp specialty!

For the last portion of this tour, we will take a jeep tour from Atins to Barrerinhas. From there, we will transfer by bus to Sao Luis, where we will enjoy a farewell journey dinner. The next day, you will fly back home.
