Trip Info

During this 7 day charming tour, we will take you through ancient towns and villages, mountain roads where you can see great plains and beautiful beaches. We’ll visit Évora and the Alentejo Wine Region with its castles and villages. We continue to the far south of Portugal until we reach the Algarve. Afterwards we will ride along Portugal´s coastline from Portimão, to Sagres, passing along its beautiful beaches before arriving at the Tróia Peninsula. From here we cross the Sado River by ferry and ride through the Arrábida Natural Park and the Setúbal wine region on our way to the capital, Lisbon. Throughout the tour you will be accompanied by a tour leader who will share with you all he knows of this country. Just enjoy your ride and let us worry about Takinguthere.

Day 1: Arrival in Lisbon
This day is dedicated to your arrival at the Portuguese capital, Lisboa. After picking you up at the airport, you will get to know your tour leader and receive the trip briefing. Depending on the time of arrival we may still take a small tour of Lisbon.

Day 2: Lisbon – Évora (140 Km)
The day will start by visiting a few places in Lisbon and getting to know part of its history and gastronomy. Afterwards we will start our trip to Évora by crossing the old Tagus Bridge (our “Golden Gate” Bridge) that takes us to Montemor-o-Novo. There we will see the city castle, town square and enjoy the natural scenery. Heading further east we reach Évora, a city with a history dating back for more than two millennia. Its name comes from the Celtic tribe, Ebura. Before we rest and visit Évora we can still ride down to the Monsaraz castle with its amazing views over the Alentejo plains.

Day 3: Alentejo Wine Route (Évora – Estremoz – Borba – Reguengos de Monsaraz – Évora) (155 Km)
This day we will explore the Alentejo Wine Route, starting with Estremoz, internationally known for its marble, occurring in several colours but especially in pink and that was firstly exported by the Romans. Next we head to Borba, known for its wine, meat sausages and bread. We will then visit one of the most beautiful castles of the region, Monsaraz with its amazing views. To end the day we head back to Évora where you can visit its cathedral as well as the Roman Temple of Diana.

Day 4: Évora – Beja – Castro Verde – Portimão (227 Km)
On this day we will be heading south and passing several places on our way from the Alentejo to the Algarve. We will travel along mountain roads with amazing views all the way down to the Algarve. At the end of the day we will reach the town of Portimão with its beautiful beaches, marina and great restaurants.

Day 5: Portimão – along the coastal road – Tróia (240 Km)
For this longer stretch we will travel along the amazing coastal road from the Algarve until we reach the Tróia Peninsula. Along the way we will visit Sagres, known as the most Southwestern tip of Europe. Traveling north, with the Atlantic ocean on our left, we will pass through Odeceixe, Vila Nova Milfontes, Melides, and Comporta with their beautiful white sandy beaches and crystal clear water. Reaching Tróia we will have the opportunity to view the Sado Estuary and its amazing landscape.

Day 6: Tróia – Setúbal- Arrábida – Azeitão – Lisbon (111 Km)
After breakfast we will cross the Sado River by ferry-boat to Setúbal. Here we will visit a few places namely the Forte de São Filipe, where we can see amazing views of the Tróia Peninsula and the Sado River. Heading up the Arrábida Mountain range, that was declared a Natural Park in 1976 to protect the many flora species (that exist only here), we will go along a scenic roads until we reach Azeitão, part of Setúbal´s wine region. The trip will end by again crossing the old Tagus Bridge that will take us back to Lisbon.

Day 7: Your departure from Lisbon
This day is dedicated to your departure from the Portuguese capital, Lisboa. To end this journey you will be dropped off at the airport.
