Day 1: Delhi

Day 2: Delhi—Agra (B)
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before following your guide to Agra for a day of sightseeing. Relax in the privacy of your air-conditioned vehicle during the 4-hour drive as you prepare to see India’s most iconic building — the stunning Taj Mahal. Check into your hotel and find lunch (own expense) before making your way to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Taj Mahal. One of the Seven Wonders of the World, this striking homage to Shah Jahan’s third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, took some 20 years and 20,000 men to erect. White marble was gathered more than 200 miles away and carried by a fleet of 1,000 elephants to the construction site. Your guide will explain how Turkish, Islamic and Indian elements of architecture are blended together to create this monumental structure. Once you’ve finished at the Taj Mahal, head to Agra Fort, which was built in the 16th-century by Emperor Akbar. The striking red sandstone structure was built along the Yamuna River and remains a prized example of Mughal architecture. Day 3: Agra—Ranthambore (B, D)
