The 6 day Tanzania budget camping safari takes you to Lake Manyara, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park. Accommodation will be at budget camping sites during the safari, most of the campsites are inside the national parks, except Lake Manyara and Tarangire.
These are excellent sites for wildlife viewing. Beyond the heralded migration of wildebeest and zebra, the Serengeti is best known for its big predators, including the cheetah and leopard, as well as large prides of lions and clans of hyenas. Other commonly seen animals include gazelles, buffaloes, giraffes, topis, hartebeests, ostriches, and jackals, but it is the full diversity of wildlife and habitats that you will truly find amazing.
Day 1 – After breakfast in Arusha, proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day game drive with picnic lunches. Stretching for 50 km along the base of the rusty-gold, 600-metre high Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting extolled by Ernest Hemingway as “The loveliest I had seen in Africa.” Later, proceed to Lake Manyara Sunbright Campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2 – After breakfast, proceed to Serengeti National Park for a game drive with picnic lunches. Serengeti has the highest concentration of large mammals on this planet and is famously known for its 2,500 lions, the largest concentration found anywhere. The park also has over 518 identified bird species, some of them Eurasian migrants. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Seronera Campsite.
Day 3 – Early morning, embark on a game drive in Serengeti National Park. Return for breakfast and relax. Later, proceed on a full day game drive with picnic lunches, enjoying the varieties of flora and fauna all around the plain, landless national park and see the Polje natural feature. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Seronera Campsite.
Day 4 – Start your day with an early morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. Afterwards, return for breakfast and relax. In the afternoon, proceed for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch. Enjoy dinner and overnight at a Seronera campsite.
Day 5 – After an early breakfast, proceed for a full-day crater tour with picnic lunches at Ngorongoro Crater. It is a large, unbroken, un-flooded caldera, formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed some three million years ago. The Ngorongoro crater sinks to a depth of 610 metres, with a base area covering 260 square kilometres. The height of the original volcano must have ranged between 4,500 to 5,800 metres high. Apart from the main caldera, Ngorongoro also has two other volcanic craters: Olmoti and Empakai. The former is famous for its stunning waterfalls, and the latter holding a deep lake and lush, green walls. Enjoy dinner and overnight at a Tarangire campsite.
Day 6 – After an early breakfast, proceed for a full-day game drive at Tarangire National Park with picnic lunches. The fierce sun sucks the moisture from the landscape, baking the earth a dusty red, the withered grass as brittle as straw. The Tarangire River has shrivelled to a shadow of its wet season self. It is choked with wildlife. Thirsty nomads have wandered hundreds of parched kilometres knowing that there is always water here. Later, continue back to Arusha in the evening.
