Sightseeing in Marrakech: 3 Days Sample Itinerary

Day One: Marrakech – Ouarzazate:

Pick up from the hotel or riad in Marrakech to start our trip traveling to Ouarzazate (south of Marrakech) crossing the high atlas mountains, and drive through the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260 m), appreciating the beauty of the landscapes and Berber villages, stopping at the Kasbah of Telouet which belongs to Pasha Glaoui , a French-Moroccan collaborator during the colonial period, arriving at the largest Kasbah in morocco Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah situated on little high mountain overlooking a fertile valley, it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site , the main house of the Glaoui family, here you will walk and climb to see how the Kasbah is surrounded by Hammada (stony desert), and explore its old and dwindled buildings, then we’ll have our lunch in the Kasbah before we drive to Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa), here you will have chance to visit another famous Kasbah in the heart of the city (Taourirt) was built on prime commercial real-estate, it was a wealthy region where people came to do business, overnight in Ouarzazat.

Day Two: Ouarzazate – Toudgha gorges – Merzouga (sahara):

From Ouarzazat we we’ll head to Merzouga, along the road, we will enjoy the magical landscapes and Kasbahs till we arrive to Kalaat Magouna, the region known as the valley of the roses, and its annual Rose festival, after that we will continue our way to Sahara passing through many Berber villages, stopping in the panoramic view places to make photos, before arriving to the gorgeous gorges of Toudgha where the high red cliffs rise on each side of this rocky, long and narrow passage, these gorges are preferred for climbers who come to enjoy their sport, continuing our road to the south, till we arrive Erfoud or Rissani (the origin of the king family) where we will have our lunch, after that directly to Merzouga, In Merzouga it must to be there before the sunset, the village where will be welcomed of course with a glass of mint tea, before riding your camels guided by an experienced desert camel-man to the middle of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes to spend one of your exceptional nights in a comfortable Berber tent, after having our dinner, we’ll entertain ourselves with Berber drums around fire, before you go to sleep in a traditional nomad tent, or if you prefer to sleep under the stars .

Day Three: Merzouga – Alnif – Draa valley – Tizi N’tichka pass – Marrakech:

Your camel guide will wake you up before the sunrise, to climb the sand dunes and live one of your best, warm and magical sunrises, it is your opportunity to take fantastic photos, then you will take the way back on a camel trekking to the hotel where you have shower and breakfast, before we start the last day of our trip going back to Marrakech but in different road, then we’ll leave the desert passing through Rissani, Alnif one of Morocco’s richest seams of fossils, continuing our way passing the black stony desert arriving N’Kob a small Berber village where we will have lunch, our route will take us along the DRAA valley, known by its fascinating palm trees, after that we’ll drive to the north via Ouarzazat and the Tizi Ntichka pass ones again, arriving Marrakech where the tour ends.
