Add to that, you will be able to see more attractions in the desert of different types. Nature, historical, cultural and geological wonders.
The tour itinerary in order:
(The First Day)
1 – 7 am: Start your desert Safari adventure from Cairo using 4×4 car.
2 – Drive on a tar road for about 50 km (30 mile) towards Fayoum before getting into the desert.
3 – Explore north of Qaroun lake and stop at the following sites : Abu Lifa ancient Monastery, the Ancient Basala Query,Qasr El Sagha, Demi El Seba ancient city ruins and the petrified forest.
4 – Lunch
5 – Continue driving on lake Fayoum shore and through Rayan valley to the Whales Valley & explore it
6 – Dinner and camping overnight in the Whales valley.
(The Second Day)
1 – Breakfast.
2 – Drive to Rayan depression.
3 – Stop at the Magic lake and El Rayan water falls.
4 – Visit Tunis village and Lunch.
5 – Drive back to Cairo.
What to see:
(West Qarun Lake Desert)
If you starting your tour from Cairo, this is the best desert destination, since it has a unique features really come together. Sand dunes, rock formations, ruins of ancient cities and communities, geological wonders, ancient history, unique culture and on the top of that a natural beauty. Visit the Ancient Basalt Quarry, Here the ancient Egyptians workers mined the Basalt blocks used in the Great Pyramids complex 4500 years ago, from the top one can see a grand panorama for Fayoum Oases then visit the petrified forest, Is the remnants of a forest that grew 35 million years ago. The trees perfectly petrified in their smallest details, some trees more than 30 m.(98 ft.) in length. Then go to Abu Lifa Monastery, it is cut into the mountain. The inscriptions dated it to 686 AD.It was a shelter for early Christians during the persecution times. Then go to Qasr El-Sagha Temple, which was Erected around the Middle Kingdom (2061-1664 BC.), it is a small deserted temple. The temple was neither completed nor decorated. Then visit Dimeh al-Siba, which is a Big Greco-Roman town, believed to be founded during the Ptolemaic period in the third century BC. finally visit Qarun Lake, which is a large brackish water lake 254 sq. km. (98 sq. miles) and is the heart of a protected area containing a rich fauna of migrating and resident birds.
(Rayan Valley (Wadi El Rayan))
The only water fall in Egypt, many Egyptians uses it a summer beach resorts, and paradise for bird watchers. It Has 2 Lakes lies in the middle of the desert. On the bright side, Wadi Rayyan is particularly conducive to large colonies of birds, the area is a major nesting ground for both endemic and migrating birds. For fun, you can be taken out in a big wooden rowboat, for a one-hour trip out to the middle of the lake and then back up close to the falls. Discover the Waterfalls, The water falls aren’t as dramatic as the name suggests, but they’re the only ones in Egypt. Then go to El mudawara mountain, which Offers the best view over Rayan Lakes. Finally visit The Magic Lake, which is hidden behind the high sand dunes, a small size lake with extreme beauty where a deep blue waters meeting golden sand.
(Whale’s valley (Wadi Hitan))
Also known as Wadi Hitan. Whales valley is a world heritage site, since it has a unique petrified Whales rarely seen anywhere. It is a remote valley in the Western Desert of Egypt, where more than 400 skeletons of primitive whales some up to 18m. (59 ft.) long have been petrified for about 40 million years. Not only Whales, but also various collections of petrified marine creatures everywhere. Add to that the striking, most beautiful, most rich rock formations in the Egyptian western desert.
