Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park, enjoy an en-route game drive & picnic lunch served in the park. Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is one of the most beautiful places in Africa. The Park is dramatically marked off by lush green vegetation consisting of tall trees of the ground water forest, which provides a home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys. Further down, the forest opens up into woodland, grassland, swamps and beyond, the soda lake itself where over 350 species of birds, including the lively flamingo, pelican, sacred ibis, grebe and stork can be viewed. At the southern end of the Park are hot sulphur springs called Maji Moto. Manyara is noted for its numerous buffalo, elephant, giraffe, impala, hippo, as well as a great variety of smaller animals, and, of course, the very elusive tree-climbing lions. In the afternoon, your driver will take you to you Lodge.

Day 3: Balaa Hill – Lake Natron – Ngare Sero Falls

In the morning, accompanied by a Masai, you go on foot from Mto Wa Mbu and walk at the foot of the Rift Valley to the north. Farmers in this region mainly cultivate bananas and the tree’s large leaves will provide welcome shade. On your way, you will certainly come across some baboons. Finally, you go up the hill Balaa and enjoy the beautiful view of the green oasis of Mto wa Mbu, rice fields, the lake and the Manyara Park. We descend through the banana plantation to small farms Mto Wa Mbu (approx. 1h30 walk), to drive to Lake Natron – always Maasai land. After lunch en-route, we will arrive at the campsite on the hills of the Lake, giving us a great view. We will take an aquatic hike in the afternoon from the river through the shady Ngare Sero gorge to beautiful waterfalls. Enjoy a refreshing swim in a beautiful natural pool surrounded by steep rock faces showered by spring water cascades and dominated by palm trees.

Day 4: Lake Natron – Serengeti National Park

A morning walk along the lake accompanied by our Maasai guide. Lake Natron is mainly known for its impressive concentration of flamingos, who find several elements that contribute to their massive consolidation: isolation of developed regions, and a rather hot alkaline water that promotes the development of algae on which they feed. We leave Lake Natron to make our way into the vast plains known for their concentration of wildebeest, zebras and their predators, constantly migrating in search of pasture. The impression of freedom allowed by the open spaces that characterize the Serengeti plains, savannah-sunburned leaving a shimmering horizon, is as staggering as the safari itself. Undoubtedly the most famous in the world, the Serengeti covers over 14 000 square kilometers and offers among many other things, the biggest concentration of big cats in the world: Cheetahs, Lions, Leopards, Wild cats, birds, impala. In the dry season from June to Oct, many predators watch their prey that come to drink from the water.

Important rivers also run through the park. Many different species of mammals can be spotted during game drives, elephant, buffalo, giraffes, antelopes, hippo and crocodile can all be found. In addition, animals are easily observed in the dry season (August-October), where they are more concentrated in the river bed. It is located on the western coast of Unguja, the main island of the Zanzibar Archipelago. Its architecture, mostly dating back to the 19th century, reflects the diverse influences underlying the Swahili culture. For this reason, the town was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
