Trip Info

A half a day on Lake Manapouri gives you the perfect opportunity to experience some of the beauty and tranquility of Fiordland. Join us for a fantastic voyage aboard ‘Pomona,’ enjoying the magnificent 360º mountain views.

While we can go almost anywhere on Lake Manapouri you might wish, here are a few suggestions:

Visit unspoiled islands
Cruise with us along unspoiled islands to Stockyard cove and join us for a 40min walk to the waterfall. Alternatively, you can take a kayak and explore the bay, go for a swim or catch a fish. Kerstin could even play the piano just for you, in the middle of the lake. Or, do it all and take your time. We operate far away from tourist areas; Lake Manapouri is still rarely commercially used.

Cruise to the Monument
Our second suggestion, a favorite cruise of ours, will take you to the Monument, a little iconic mountain on Lake Manapouri with a steep and challenging 45min climb. You will be rewarded with one of the best views Fiordland has to offer and a fantastic yellow, sandy beach on your return, inviting you for a swim.

Explore the Holmwood Islands
Holmwood Islands is a perfect spot for kayaking and swimming. A highlight for many of our guests is a bush walk with Jimmy, but he would argue the true highlight is Kerstin’s piano playing. The vegetation on these islands is rich as it can get and orchids are around everywhere.

Drop in on the Kepler Track
We could take you to Shallow bay, a great fishing spot at the entrance of the Waiau River and you could go for a short easy walk on the famous Kepler track. We could continue to Calm Bay and you could go for a swim or listen to some live piano music.

The choices are yours; we tailor every trip to suit your interests. For an additional cost, we can arrange to cater for food. Just let us know what you have in mind and we’ll give you a quote. Otherwise, you are welcome to bring your own food. These charters are perfect for couples, families, or a group of friends seeking a special Fiordland experience without the need for heaps of time or travel. Simply sit back and absorb the views or join us for some adventures. We look forward to seeing you aboard our cosy and warm POMONA soon.

Kerstin and Jimmy
