Best Stopover Surprise in Iceland Ever

Some of you might be familiar with Icelandair’s 48-hour stopover policy. Basically if you’re travelling by Icelandair to any destination in the UK or Europe (like London), you have the option of sticking around for a two-day stopover in Iceland…free of charge. (For the connecting flight, of course. Visitors still have to pay their own travel!)

So Icelandair decided to launch a fantastic campaign showing stopover passengers what it’s like to truly enjoy a guided tour in Iceland. Their first “victim” is Kat, who’s ambushed at arrivals by a massive group of friendly Icelanders all waiting to give her a little taste of Icelandic hospitality. Kat goes on to experience a food tour in Iceland, sampling dishes of lamb and rye, and is introduced to some of the country’s scenic highlights…like the geothermal hot springs at the Blue Lagoon.

When asked about her experience, Kat gets a little teary-eyed. “This experience in Iceland has changed me and reminded me what’s important,” she says. “Which is being open, and enjoying opportunities as they are presented to you.”

Who knew Icelanders were such a friendly bunch? Well done Icelandair and, especially, Iceland tour guides. You make it easy for us to want to visit your beautiful country.

If you want to experience some sightseeing in Iceland for yourself, seize those opportunities!
