Introducing the teaser for Dmitry Grishin’s exciting new film project: #TravelAlone. This inspiring little trailer starts out in New Zealand, “the wonderful land with so open and nice people.” It’s the beginning of a series of stories about travellers all around the world. These people come from all walks of life from every corner of the planet: older folks, young women, wizened men. They all have one thing in common: they travel alone.
For many people, travelling alone is the only option for getting out and seeing the world. Not everyone can do it, but if you sit around and wait for your friends, you may never go anywhere at all. One young woman talks about how travelling alone challenges her in new and exciting ways, and she never has to worry about being anything but herself. We have a feeling the rest of Grishin’s project will serve as an excellent solo travel guide.
We think that’s a pretty good case for travelling alone. If you haven’t done so yet, why not consider making it a part of your 2015 travel resolutions? Even if you’re nervous about your first solo mission, hiring a local guide will help ease your mind. You may even make a new friend in the process.
The conversation also brings up the tourist versus traveller debate. According to one woman: “To be a tourist is to go and see. But to be a traveller is to go and be, and experience.” Guides worldwide agree. Do you?
