But like GuideAdvisor writer Katheryn Jones says, we don’t have much reason to worry:
“Many spectators believe that the Cuban government will open its doors to US companies allowing fast-food chains, big-box stores, and all the classic American companies you see in other popular tourist destinations. But that’s not what you hear on the streets of Cuba. Most Cubans love their way of life, their culture, their music, and yes even their food (which isn’t as bad as everyone thinks). What Cubans don’t like is poverty or the inability to progress.”
In this lovely little feature from a couple travelling around Cuba, you’ll get a REAL glimpse of the country beyond the resort towns. Some people say Havana is too dangerous of a city to visit, but this couple does a good job of proving them wrong. Not only do they enjoy the colourful colonial architecture and the local food, they also meet some friendly locals in the process. (Also the music is sure to have you moving.)
Beyond the city, you’ve got all the beauty that the Caribbean is known for – epic beaches, lush jungles, and even a national park.
I’ve yet to visit Cuba, despite taking trips to the Caribbean several times now, and despite being drawn to the world’s most beautiful beaches. But I’m pretty sure this video just convinced me to add this to my must-see list.
