Australia must be a great place to live in general, because Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth also made the list. (We do have a soft spot in our hearts for Australia, ever since we discovered their Santa surf competitions.) The entire list is actually dominated by Canadians and Australians, turns out. Who knew?
To celebrate this lovely title, filmmaker Daniel Johnson put together this film titled Melbourne: World’s Most Livable City. The footage was taken throughout the course of five months, while Johnson explored the city on foot. “I wanted to present the parts of Melbourne that stood out to me, and bring life to the images using my time-lapse photography.” Well, you nailed it, Johnson. Consider this a lovely introductory Melbourne guide.
Guides in Australia will tell you that Melbourne has a lot to offer. It’s often been overlooked for grand cities like Sydney, but Melbourne has been making waves as a vibrant, multicultural city with lots to offer. (Hint: the food selection is out of this world.) Looking for more to do? Hop on a bike and cycle the Merri Creek Trail or the Yerra Trail – Australians are outdoorsy to the extreme, after all. Melbourne is also filled with stunning street art, veggie markets, art galleries and museums, and more.
