Getting High In The South Chilcotins

Continuing this month’s entirely unintentional trend of showcasing films featuring handsome men traveling, here we not only get to enjoy the truly spectacular scenery of Cape Scott on Vancouver Island and the South Chilcotin mountain range in beautiful British Columbia, but we also get to gaze upon the subject of the film - pretty boy French photographer Brice Portolano – as he maps his way to the summit of the highest peak in the range. C’est magnifique! And if that isn’t enough to entice you… he also treats us to some ”sensitive guy” narration in his ultra charming native language (don’t worry – there are English subtitles). Anyone else getting spring fever?

Guides in British Columbia, Canada are truly experts in everything and anything that can be done in this world famous outdoor enthusiast’s playground. From all of the guided adventures of the open water (like whale watching, fishing, kayaking, sailing and canoeing) to the epic challenges that await on the mountain slopes (like skiing, mountain biking, hiking and climbing to name a few) – the only problem will be deciding what to do first.

My favorite scenes are at 2:10-2:45 on the misty beach, the pristine mountain backdrop that starts at 4:11, and of course cresting the summit around 8:27 to wrap it all up in style. Beautiful British Columbia indeed.
