Galapagos Guides Love Boobies!

Blue-footed boobies that is! One of the funniest and most aptly named treasures of the Galapagos Islands (off the coast of Ecuador) is this flirty blue-footed bird with a well-earned reputation for non-stop philandering! And while simply raising your colorful feet or flapping your arms will get you nothing but awkward silence at your local hook-up joint, it brings the lady boobies to their knees (well, clearly it would if they had knees).

Most people are aware that Darwin’s research in the Galapagos led to the groundbreaking theory laid out in The Origin of Species and that the convergence of three major oceanic currents brings the most incredible mix of marine life to Galapagos. That coupled with the abundant and fearless land-based wildlife means visitors here can get up close and personal with some of the world’s rarest animals.

No trip to visit the colonial cities or beach towns of Ecuador  – or to nearby Machu Picchu and the  Sacred Valley in Peru – should be planned without considering spending some time on guided tours in the Galapagos Islands.

There is no bad time to go as this is a year round travel hot-spot due to its isolation and proximity to the equator – the two seasons are “dry” and “warm’. We should all be so lucky.

Enjoy this entertaining PBS video from the “Love In The Wild” series that shows what dirty little cheaters these boobies are….  I bet I’d have way more game if my feet were bright blue too.
