
Most people are aware that Darwin’s research in the Galapagos led to the groundbreaking theory laid out in The Origin of Species and that the convergence of three major oceanic currents brings the most incredible mix of marine life to Galapagos. That coupled with the abundant and fearless land-based wildlife means visitors here can get up close and personal with some of the world’s rarest animals.
No trip to visit the colonial cities or beach towns of Ecuador – or to nearby Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley in Peru – should be planned without considering spending some time on guided tours in the Galapagos Islands.
There is no bad time to go as this is a year round travel hot-spot due to its isolation and proximity to the equator – the two seasons are “dry” and “warm’. We should all be so lucky.
