These Bubble Blowing Whales are Amazing!

There’s no question whales are some of the most incredible mammals on earth. Yet they’re also the least understood. For example, they have the innate ability to blow what are known as toroidal bubbles, which is an underwater vortex ring where an air bubble occupies the core of the vortex, forming a ring shape. If that’s a little too scientific, imagine a smoke ring underwater.

It’s a rare thing to be able to see whales create these toroidal bubbles but to start your discovery journey we recommend going on a guided whale watching excursion with the likes of Captain Tom, an acclaimed orca expert based in Victoria, Canada or Luis Munoz who will take you to see Humpback whales off the coast of Mexico. Or perhaps you’d rather be in the water on a snorkelling trip, or, swimming with dolphins in the Amazon. Whatever your preference, you’ll definitely learn more about whales and toroidal bubbles with the help of a guide.
