Adventure is Calling Your Name

Sometimes, as travellers, we have a little a bit of difficulty appreciating our surroundings at home. We get caught up in far-flung places and exotic destinations, and we forget all about our own little special part of the universe that might actually be pretty cool to somebody else.

That’s why I was stunned, after a few minutes of watching this video titled “Adventure is Calling”, to realize that half these destinations are right in my own backyard — in Canada and the United States. This surreally beautiful video captured by Shane Black (who seems to use at least a dozen cameras when he travels, by the way) will absolutely have you looking for ways to get to the mountains or the coast ASAP.

Checked off on my to-do list so far: gazing in awe at Lake Louise in Banff National Park (Alberta), and watching the sunset atop Mauna Kea volcano in Hawaii. That’s it. And I can call myself an adventurer!

Having recently spent time in both the Canadian Rockies and Hawaii, I can assure you that both places are well worth your time (especially Hawaii – I’ve gone ahead and written a list of 6 Amazing Things to do in Maui for you). But exploring the Canadian Rockies in Banff National Park is one of my all-time favourite things to do. I suggest hiring an adventure guide to take you out into the wilderness, however. Like a Banff hiking trekking guide. Mind the grizzlies.
