8 Ultimate “Man-Trips” To Amp Up Your Testosterone

2
I’m willing to wager that at some point in every man’s life, he has in some fashion or another declared at least one variation of the following theory to be true -  “bitches be crazy!”. Am I right fellas? There must be sufficient reason that this 3 word phrase nets 11,600,000 google results in .22 seconds. (Google fun fact: “men are a**holes” gets 6,150,000 results in about the same amount of time). And while there is certainly no denying that the fairer sex have their considerable upside – I could endlessly list the things that make women amazing, essential contributors to all things wonderful on this planet… that is not what we’re talking about today. Today we are focusing on the times when a man needs to get as far away from the women in his life as possible… away from all their “feelings” and their “moods” and most importantly… from all of their “talking”.

Here are some of the best ideas for escaping with guy friends - quick and easy ways to restore the necessary testosterone balance in your world and make sure that you can come home ready to at least pretend to listen.

8. Canyoneering

Canyoning (known as canyoneering in North America) is hiking on steroids…  defined as traveling in canyons using techniques that can include walking, scrambling, climbing, swimming, jumping, and rappelling (I’m assuming falling is also included in that list, but funny it’s not mentioned much in the literature). Sounds like a pretty fierce blend of testosterone boosting elements to me. Great spots to try it out in the US include Arizona, Hawaii and southwestern Utah.

7. Kiteboarding

The insane amount of airtime that kiteboarders can attain is astonishing. If the idea of gearing up to try this out doesn’t get your adrenaline pumping into overdrive I don’t know what will.  Experienced guides are ready to show you all the tips and tricks of this fast growing sport in exotic places like Tanzania, Lisbon, Antigua and the Grenadines.

6. Going To A Formula 1 Race

The heady mix of exhaust fumes and the thrum of thundering engines puts the elite Formula 1 races (held around the globe) firmly in the pole position on the bucket lists of most men. With the 2015 season kicking off in Australian mid-March and making pit stops in a total of 20 countries before wrapping up in high style come November in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E - there is a track and a locale that will fit any man’s vacation calendar just about perfectly.

5. Whitewater Rafting

The thrills to be had whitewater rafting can be non-stop. Options for guided tours include half-day trips or for a more intense experience – epic multi-day journeys in far flung places like Costa Rica, New Zealand, Peru, Thailand and Turkey. Amazing tours are offered on the most pulse-raising river runs all over Canada and the US as well. Even absolute newbies can safely experience the adventure of whitewater rafting with an experienced guide. Jaw-dropping scenery and frequent wildlife spotting are just added bonuses.

4. Backcountry Skiing

There is something that calls the outdoor adventurer to backcountry skiing. The lure of thigh high powder unsullied by others, the profound silence, the crisp cold air, and the unshakable impression that you have the whole mountain to yourself. Backcountry skiing guides worldwide ensure that you have the time of your life. Nothing seals a bromance like healthy competition… last one down buys the beer.

3. Mountain Biking

Mountain bikers have a foreign language entirely unfamiliar to most of us. Trust me when I say that experienced guides will keep you from huge diggers, chainsuck and out of the granny gear at epic destinations like Austria, Italy, New Zealand, Spain and Slovenia. Scream down a single-track and don’t bring home a Christmas tree. Lose your rookie mark and connect with a great mountain-biking guide for a trip you’ll be talking about for years.

2. Scuba Diving

Get PADI certified on your next mancation and learn to dive in some of the most beautiful waters in the world. Thailand was voted best bang for your baht in SportDiver’s 2014 list of “10 Best Scuba Diving Destinations for Beginners” with Hawaii’s Maui getting top marks for teaching focus and Heron Island in Australia coming out on top for big animal gratification.

1. Las Vegas

And last, but definitely not least, Vegas baby! A recent poll at a popular men’s ezine ranked the top two activities that men don’t want to have their girlfriend or wife hanging around for – can you guess what they were? No, beachside babe-watching did not make the cut. According to this article, poker and golf are both best enjoyed by men when they are out on their own….  so when you need to skip town for a quick guys only trip – a poker weekend in Las Vegas may be just what the doctor ordered. And remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, unless of course anyone anywhere in the vicinity has a smartphone and/or a twitter account. So don’t be a dumb-ass.

The next time your better half prompts you to pick a paint chip from a collection of a dozen or so with absolutely zero discernible color difference, or suggests how much you’re both going to enjoy a “tofu seaweed surprise” dinner (the only surprise will be if you ever actually stick around to eat it) – just grab your passport, your credit card and tell her you’re just popping out to “pick up some milk” and make a bee-line for the airport.

I want to do all of these in one epic man-cation for my stag party! What about shark cage diving though? Shouldn’t it be on the list? :)

Wait, before you go...
