Guide Bio

My name is Zaid and I was born into a long line of nomads. My family is of Berber origin, in our own language we call ourselves Imazighen, which translates as “The Free People”. We as a people have lived in the deserts of southern Morocco for centuries as nomads, moving from one place to another in order to find water. The Berber tribes historically traveled with a camel caravan in order to transport the tents, khaima, and the various things needed to survive in the harsh desert. From these experiences we have a special understanding and love of the desert. I began to lead tours and treks in order to share our ways of life and disappearing Berber traditions with others. I invite you to experience a new adventure: stay in a nomad tent in the middle of the desert, under a sky full of stars, surrounded by silence. Together we will explore the scenery, natural beauty, and significant history of Morocco and its people. Above all, I enjoy spending time with people from other cultures and countries, sharing traditions and experiences over a glass of Berber tea with fresh mint. There are so many beautiful places in Morocco, let us discover them: the famous and historical Imperial Cities, hidden gems in the Atlas Mountains, relaxing afternoons on pristine beaches, and countless other natural wonders. I hope to see you soon and to create a special experience for you in my country.
