Captain Steve and Cecilia are the founders and tour guides of Whats Sup Stand Up Paddle Surf & Kayak, a family business based in Kenmore, Washington. Steve grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii, playing water sports since he was very young. He loved kayaking, rowing, and surfboarding. As a member of the Waikiki Surf Club, Steve frequently competed with his friends who grew up to be pro SUP players.
When he was 14, Steve joined Skin Diving Hawaii as a safety diver. He was then promoted to a dive-boat pilot for local companies before establishing his own dive business, Steve’s Diving Adventures, in 1978. This 5-star PADI training facility became the largest dive operation on the islands. Steve offered SCUBA and skin-diving courses and a variety of open-water tours. Steve’s business expanded to include full-service retail outsets.
In 1991, Steve moved to the Northwest to start a new chapter of his life. He volunteered for the Virginia V Foundation in 2002 and later became a Captain of the vessel. Steve was a member of the foundation’s board of trustees, serving as president for the term 2009-2012. He is currently serving as Immediate Past President, Board Member.
Steve is a friendly and professional tour guide as well as a proud father of three daughters – Ursulla, Brandie, and Andrea.
