My name is Sarah, I’m 22, and at the moment I’m a graduate student at Cairo University, who, along with other students manage a student-run network for independent tourism in-and-around Cairo & Lower Egypt, called Egyptian Sidekick.
My area of studies centred around the faculty of English, so you can be confident that you’ll have a well-spoken companion while you explore Cairo & Lower Egypt.
I, and others like me, facilitate sightseeing & cultural experiences for a flat, per-group rate, as opposed to per person. Transportation is included. We pride ourselves for being a fair-wage network, with the majority of money paid going straight to the Sidekicks you hire.
While we are not students of Egyptology, we are all young, motivated English-speaking students, who know a great deal about the history of our country, and the many recent developments. If you want an authentic, local experience, with someone that is not part of the mainstream mass tourism industry, hiring one of us is definitely the way to go.
Transportation and all gratuities are included in the price of service. The only thing travellers are responsible for is admission to each site, but don’t worry about that, admission is in Egyptian Pounds (EGP) and is not expensive, check out our website if you’re interested in the actual admission rates. If you have an ISIC student card, you will receive discounts at each of the sites ranging between 23% and 53% off regular admission (Most of the time, it is a 50% discount).
