Hi my name is Ruth, I would like to welcome you to my home town Liverpool, a city that’s steeped in history and oozes culture and heritage. Liverpool is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, like the Great Wall of China and the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. The city won the status in 2004 because of its impressive waterfront which, according to UNESCO, represents a supreme example of a commercial port at the time of Britain’s greatest global significance. We were also awarded the European City of culture in 2008.
Liverpool, the very name conjures up images of a glorious maritime history, world-beating musical heritage, two of the Premiership’s biggest football teams and not one, but two majestically different Cathedrals. It is now bulging with fabulous new shops, buzzing new restaurants, hip hotels and trendy wine bars, as well as a world class cultural offering with more museums and galleries than anywhere outside of London, not forgetting its inhabitants, of course, who are famously friendly and will welcome you with pride.
I am a born and bred Scouser and like all true Scouser’s have great pride and love of my city and its culture. I was brought up living on Penny lane and from a young age have always enjoyed meeting visitors from around the world who would come and visit and pay homage to the Beatles. I have shown many friends and relatives around the city and have always enjoyed sharing my knowledge of places of interest and past history. I’ve always had a real passion for Liverpool and its vibrant and fascinating history and wish to share that enthusiasm with visitors to my city in a relaxed, informative and entertaining way; humour is in our blood!
I hold a certificate in travel & tourism and have attended night school to further my knowledge in local history.
I have a passion for travelling and meeting people and have travelled over the years to many countries such as Australia, America, Canada, India, Mexico, Thailand, Hong Kong, Israel, Morocco, Turkey, Greece, Poland, Holland, Germany, Norway, Iceland, Spain, Portugal, France and Belgium. I have been to many places off the beaten track to gain further knowledge of different cultures and love talking to people about my home town Liverpool.
