Lifestyle, Wine Tour
Traveling has always been a large part of my life. Growing up in California, I discovered early on the joy of hiking through the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains and from there I explored mountains and deserts throughout the western U.S. Another great advantage of living in the state was being near the wonderful vineyards of the central coast. I enjoyed many days learning about the fine wines from this area and northern California. My education includes an AA Degree in Art from Santa Monica College and a BA Degree in Archaeology/Geography from California State University Northridge. I then began my travels while also building my first business, a stained glass studio in Ventura County called Kirk Studios which I had for 14 years.
In 1993 I began an adventure travel business providing small group hiking vacations to the Grand Canyon AZ, Colorado, Wyoming, Alaska, Utah, Hawaii, Canadian Rockies, Papua New Guinea, Mexico and Costa Rica. I would have to say the most interesting trip I did was spending a month traveling through the Highlands of Papua New Guinea. This remote expedition required over 13 flights into primitive jungle villages and experiencing their culture.
For the last 22 years I have been fortunate enough to live in beautiful Sedona in northern Arizona. If you are someone who loves being in nature hiking, exploring and trail running like me, then this is the place to be. Being alone in the canyons and on the mountains as the sun sets, and watching the first stars appear brings me great peace and insight. The balance of this solitude and then having this wonderful career with the opportunity to introduce people to the vineyards, regional history and insights into the natural landscape is perfect for me. Being part of this exciting industry, the great people and unique environment of this northern Arizona region has been the high point of my life. I hope you will come join me and Kaprice so we can share our passion with you for this beautiful place we call home.
