Rajan, known by everyone as “Raj,” was born in the hill region of Dhading, which is located approximately 100km from Kathmandu. In 1994, after completing his education, he became a porter. He was quickly recognized as a natural leader, and was sponsored by the trekking company he worked for to take a 6 month trekking guide training course. In 1996, Raj completed his training, and has been a trekking guide since then.
Raj has guided clients from all over the world. He is particularly knowledgeable of the Annapurna region, as well as both the Everest trekking area and Langtang area. One of his career highlights is climbing to Mera Peak, at an altitude of 6576 meters.
Raj is a very honest, hardworking guide. His natural leading skills and kindness are integral to being a guide. He knows that due to the length of a trekking trip, the guide makes the experience. He prides himself in making sure travelers have the time of their lives. Raj feels that there are two principles that are integral to being a successful guide: “Duty and responsibility for the sheer satisfaction of my guests.”
