Raj Kumar Dhamala (Raj), Managing Director was born in the Sankosh VDC of Dhading District. Sankosh is a remote village in the south-east side of the Manaslu and Ganesh Himal range. He developed fondness to the mountains while growing with it. His childhood was not very pleasant after losing his mother in early days. He completed primary school in his village and moved to Kathmandu as a domestic helper and continued with studies. After a long hard life of 7 years he completed his high school and entered in the tourism Business at the age of 16 as a porter in 1998. Raj then started working for different companies as porter and later was promoted to a trekking guide and then to a trek leader. He took his license from Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NATHM) in 2003. Working in Nepalese trekking industry was hard for him as everyone experiences, as lot of guides and porters don’t get timely paid and have very less to survive on. The scenario was same in some of the big companies he worked for. After being unpaid and surrounded with all kinds of trouble he decided to leave for Middle East for work but Destiny had something else for him and he was called for a trekking with a Czech group as they wanted him to accompany them for their trip in Dolpo. It was their second trip in Nepal and the first trip they did with him was pretty successful. After hearing the story about Raj, the Czech team suggests him to quit the plans to go abroad and then start a company on his own so that other guides and porter he would employ won’t have to face the same problems he faced. With the motivation of the Czech group, especially Mr. Jiri Student who is also the Adviser and the God Father of the company and support from the previous guest from different parts of the world Raj started Adventure Mission Nepal as a small trekking agency in Thamel in 2009.
