Rafael has frequented the mountains since his childhood. When he was younger, he thought of becoming a mountain guide, but he let the idea go due to personal circumstances. After trying a variety of other jobs, he realized he had to return to his passion – providing everyone with the opportunity to enjoy mountains and canyons.
Rafael has been a professional mountain guide since 2012. He has often worked in the mountains of the Basque Country, Pyrenees, and Sierra de Guara. He has a great deal of experience working with French, Belgian and English people as well as with families.
Guiding provides Rafael with the opportunity to work doing what he loves, in the field of his passion. It brings him the possibility to learn from and get to know other people. Through the means of this job, he encourages the appreciation and respect of nature and the wilderness.
Rafael offers the experience of real adventure in contact with nature, trying to overcome the sports side of this kind of practice and shed light on the environmental dimension of climbing and mountain trekking. He adjusts the difficulty of his treks based on the knowledge and skills of the participants, attempting to provide achievable challenges and promoting discovery and contact with the natural environment. He also develops his proposals taking into account the cultural, historical and gastronomical heritage existing in the natural places visited.
