Why did you decide to become a mountain guide?

I (come) from a family of mountain guides, and I love meeting foreign people and leading them through my country.

How did you make the transition to becoming a mountain guide?

It was not a random choice, but due to (my) love of mountains and nature in general.

As a Morocco guide, what types of tours do you offer?

Trekking tours, mountain biking tours, skiing tours, desert tours, day trips.

What does a typical day look like for you?

After waking up and having breakfast, I check my email and then go on a short walk around the Berber villages in my valley with my guests. After that, we return to a restaurant where we have lunch.

Do you have a certain style of guiding?

My guiding style is friendly, easy-going and very smiley — taking care of my guests.

What’s the best part of your job?

Meeting foreign people from different cultures (and) showing them my beautiful country and culture.

What are the benefits of hiring a guide?

You get lots of information and you feel more secure.

Tell us something about trekking in the Atlas Mountains that only a guide would know.

The Atlas Mountains are worth visiting with a local guide. There are lots of things to see and learn about if you are led by a local guide who knows the area.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Himalayas.

Together with his partner Mohamed, Mustapha runs Toubkal-Trekking in Morocco. They offer many tour options for those planning a trip to the Atlas Mountains, from basic one day guided treks to full adventure packages. Their tours can include transport to the area, lodging, food, guides, mules, tents, entertainment and much more. In addition, Mustapha is able to suggest programs to meet the requirements of our visitors based on the number of days available, number of group members, difficultly of treks, amount of food and accommodation required, etc.
